Question: Outline the essential features of a production control system for the company, giving sufficient detail to make clear how the system will function.

Production control system can be seen as the coordination, supervision and regulation of the rate at which the various production inputs: Materials, Manpower, Machine Time are provided to the production system in order to meet delivery schedules at minimum cost. 


The essential features of production control system for Kura Diesel Motor Works are; 

1.     Planning: This entails determining which product to produce, the amount of material required and processes to be performed.  Kura Diesel Moto Works built engines for the marine filed chiefly fishing boats, and pleasure craft which also is used for production of powers in small communities, manufacturing plants or on firms.

This shows that the company has initially planned on the production and manufacturing of components.  Planning promotes success for an organization or company.

2.     Routing: Kura Diesel Motor Works followed the principle of simplification and standardization through the engineering department.  The sizes of marine engines have also been standardized.  There have been efforts to concentrate sales on a standard line of engines of three sizes, 20HP, 40HP, and 60HP.
