THE IMPACTS OF MOTIVATION ON EMPLOYEES’ JOB PERFORMANCE IN ORGANIZATION ( A CASE STUDY OF FEDERAL INLAND REVENUE SERVICES, ABUJA.

CHAPTER ONE:
INTRODUCTION

1.1       BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY

There have been a number of attempts to present models of motivation which list a specific number of motivating needs with the implication that these lists are all-inclusive and represent the total picture of needs. Unfortunately, each of these models has weaknesses and gaps, and we are still without a general theory of motivation.
All organizations are concerned with what should be done to achieve or sustain high levels of performance through people. Consequently the subject of adequate motivation of employees as derived from the so many attempts made by management practitioners is to look for the best way to manage employees so as to accomplish an objective or mission with the least inputs of materials and human resources available.

PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT II – CASE 6 ASSIGNMENT

CASE 6: KURA DIESEL MOTOR WORKS
Kura Diesel Motor Works had been a pioneer in the manufacture of this type of internal combustion engine.  The plant is located on tidewater in the Federal Capital City of
Abuja, because the company originally built engines for the marine field, chiefly fishing boats and pleasure craft.  Subsequently, its activities were extended to the stationary type of engines, used primarily for the production of power in small communities, in manufacturing plants or on firms.

During the earlier years of the Company’s operation, its engines were largely special-order jobs.  Even at the present time, about 60 percent of the output is made to order.  There has been in, recent years, however, a trend toward standardization of component parts and reduction in the variety of engines produced.  The engineering department has followed the principle of simplification and standardization in the case of minor parts, such as stubs, bolts and springs, giving a degree of inter-changeability of these components among the various sizes and types of engines.  Sizes of marine engines have been standardized to some extent, although customer requirements still necessitate some designs.  In the small engines for agricultural use, there has been a genuine effort to concentrate sales on a standard line of engines of three sizes, 20HP, 40HP and 60HP.

IMPACT OF MANPOWER PLANNING ON THE PERFORMANCE OF MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY (A CASE STUDY OF SEVEN UP BOTTLING COMPANY, IDU YARD ABUJA.)

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION

1.1    BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM
Manpower planning is the first and the most important function of management. The essence of manpower planning involves a critical analysis of the supply, demand, surplus, shortage and utilization of human resources. It is important to note that the impact of manpower planning is often taken as the most important resources of an organization because through it, other resources (material and financial) are harnessed to meet the need of man and even the overall performance of the organization itself.

The economic development of a country depends on the quality and quantity of its resources, the state of technology and efficient deployment of resources in both production and consumption process.

INVESTIGATING MOTIVATIONAL PROBLEMS IN THE NIGERIA PUBLIC SERVICE (A CASE STUDY OF INEC)

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION

1.1            BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
The "Public  Service" is used in the words of Nwosu (1977), to include those public servants who are direct employees of the Federal and State governments.  As a body that enjoys continuity of existence, the public service is an organized institution for carrying out the day-to-day activities of government. It gives legitimacy to the government in power (Chukwu, 2007:02),  hence public service or servants are required by law to assist in formulating and implementing the policies of government.
However, there has been increasing concern over the years as to the ability of public service in attending to their constitutional duties and organizational requirements, as envisaged (Imaga, 2003, Okafor, 2009).
